Volleyball, GO Wildcats !

Our friend played in a Volleyball game last week and it was so cool to see her play! I can remember those days so well. It was like going back in time. The rules have changed a bit; our serve could not touch the net and we could not serve just anywhere on the back line.
We had to stay between 2 markings when we served.
(They changed that the year after I graduated high school)
We did not do rally scoring either.
My middle school team was also the Wildcats. We would sit and cheer, just like these girls did. It was fun to watch our friend R play. She has grown into a wonderful young lady.
She is so helpful and nice.
I can't wait to see the woman she becomes.
:)
Listening to the Coach...

Good Save :) !

Always cheering on her team!

GO COWBOYS

It’s official :) we are all Cowboy fans!I have to admit it has taken 9yrs. for me to come around.
I have never really watched a game. Since the birth of our twins I have resented the entire football season. Preseason, Playoffs, Sports Center, Pre game, Fantasy, Madden..all of it. and Thanksgiving…why do they have to play on Thanksgiving?? I have never gotten used to planning the entire Holiday around a football game.
BUT this year I was convicted as I saw my wonderful husband getting geared up for this season. We went through a rough patch last summer and he has since given up a lot of the obsessed behavior about football he once had. No more Sports Center, Midnight Madden runs, 2 or 3 Fantasy football leagues, or being glued to the TV for every single football game that is being played. I know it is because he loves me. So as he got ready for his favorite team this year I surprised him with a Jersey for myself (he wears his every time they play) and shirts for the kids. Now we have football nights in support of him and his team and I watch the games with him. I am glad to take part in something he loves so much. I would say I regret all the years I didn’t – but marriage is about growing and learning. I guess we both had some growing and learning to do.
I love you honey and your Cowboys!

We had a little friend over this week! He was such a good little boy. He listened so well and did all his work. We had a lot of fun with him. Thank-you for being so good at our house!

ALIEN !

All right so it really isn’t an alien. It’s E with a silly headpiece on and goggles. I just doctored up the pic a little :). I don’t believe in aliens. I thought it was a funny pic. Primetime is having a special next week on Aliens and UFO’s and Nightline just did a piece a few weeks ago. Maybe it’s because October is around the corner or maybe it’s because of all the hype about the Stephenville sightings. Who knows? It’s interesting nonetheless.
For those of you who know me really well you may remember a time when I thought for sure I had an encounter with a UFO of the alien kind. I was in college at UTSA. I had just left my friends house. She lived across from UTSA (off 1604) on a hill, in some apartments. I was driving down a lonely dark road (this was over 10yrs ago before all the new growth out there) when I noticed two red lights in the sky. They looked like eyes and gave me the creeps. I kept driving but noticed it was following me. So, I turned around and headed back towards her apartment. The red lights got bigger and brighter and were still there. I was now a little panicky. I ended up pulling my car over, jumping out and running thru the complex to her apartment. I banged on her door shouting her name. She opened her door; I told her she needed to see something.
We walked out to the front of the building and I pointed up and asked her “what is that?”
We were both staring at a really huge dark “something” in the sky. It was huge, fairly low, still, and didn’t make a sound. There were no lights and it wasn’t like your “typical” flying saucer shape. It stayed there for a moment and then slowly moved away. It disappeared into a reddish, cloudy area of sky. But it was only cloudy to the left of us where the huge whatever floated.. flew..or drifted away.
Let me say again, I do not believe in aliens. I do know I saw something and I have a witness. I was also very innocent and sweet when this happened, so I was completely in my right mind. (In case any of you were wondering) My brother and I spent the next couple weeks looking for it again. He also said I should have let it take me :) . Anyhow, now, I think it may have been some sort of military “something” since San Antonio is full of bases. Maybe they thought it was funny to mess with some college students. Who knows? Whatever it was, it makes a good story and definitely makes me wonder today what exactly it was we saw…

I will never forget

I will never forget watching the television and seeing the second plane hit. I will never forget the moment we realized it wasn't an accident. I will never forget seeing the first tower fall and then the second. I will never forget the chaos that followed, the confusion, fear, sadness. I will never forget how quiet the sky was that day. So many lives were lost. Everyone's life was changed.
My prayer today is that God will continue to bring comfort to all the families who lost loved ones on that day. I am so thankful for my family and could not imagine their pain.

The Pointe

We love the Pointe! Even though it is cloudy and rainy outside when can still have fun swimming. One challenge of home schooling can be the endless energy the kids have! P.E. at the Pointe is our solution. They have a great facility. There are two gyms where we can run and play and a great indoor pool. We had fun splashing and playing in the play area of the pool. No organized P.E. today, just a bunch of fun!

The kids wanted a silly picture :)

Homeschool

Well we started home school this week! I was a little nervous about how it would be with everyone - One in kindergarten, third grade for the twins and a new little baby!
All went great though and everyone was soooo eager to get back to work. There was absolutely no complaining which was a major plus for me. I put the twins (who had been home schooled since kinder) into public school at the end of October last year to let them finish out 2nd grade. Being pregnant, I felt I was just too sick and tired to do an effective job of teaching. They had a blast and God really just blessed us with a wonderful school and the perfect teacher for both of them. C's teacher was a little high strung and girly and E’s was just the sweetest laid-back teacher. I think she was more nervous meeting with me than I was with her. Anyhow, I thank God for that year of rest. I got to say, even though home schooling can be extremely challenging and I don’t ever truly get a break, I love it! I just love the time spent learning as a family. I love the Bible time and singing. I love the family reading. I even love the tough times when teaching a new concept and they just don’t get it. I love it all! There is just something about teaching your kids….something about learning together as a family.

Happy school kids!
